When should I start considering the vaccines I need?

Ideally, consult with your GP or a private travel clinic at least 8 weeks before your planned trip.

Certain vaccines require advanced administration to give your body enough time to build immunity. Additionally, some vaccines require multiple doses spaced out over weeks or months.

Your risk of certain diseases may be higher if you are:

  • Traveling to rural areas
  • Backpacking
  • Staying in hostels or camping
  • Going on an extended trip rather than a package holiday

If you have an existing health condition, you may be at a greater risk of infection or complications from travel-related illnesses.

Other factors to consider

When planning your travel vaccinations, there are additional factors to keep in mind, including:

  • Your age and health: You may be more susceptible to infections than others, and some vaccines may not be suitable for individuals with certain medical conditions.
  • Working as an aid worker: If you're assisting in a refugee camp or providing aid after a natural disaster, you may be exposed to more diseases.
  • Working in a medical setting: Healthcare professionals such as doctors, nurses, or other workers may need extra vaccinations.
  • Contact with animals: If you're at risk of coming into contact with animals, you may be more susceptible to diseases transmitted by animals, like rabies.

If you're only traveling to countries in northern and central Europe, North America, or Australia, you’re unlikely to require any vaccinations.

Vaccination Process

  • Clients should bring their vaccination certificate (if available).
  • To schedule an appointment, please provide your name, age, gender, the vaccines you need, and your preferred date and time.
  • You will have a consultation with a qualified doctor to discuss the risks and benefits of the vaccine.
  • Informed consent will need to be signed.
  • A qualified nurse will administer the vaccine, and the doctor will update your vaccination record.
  • All clients must remain in the clinic for at least 30 minutes after receiving the vaccine for observation.
